    Not so bad. I have a complete area in the basement for the winter months. He has all the heat he needs along with the lamps for UVB and UVA . He isn't nearly as active though as when he roams the back yard all summer long.
    I just moved from Ohio a couple months ago to Florida. I got mine for pretty much the same reasons as you. plus the cool legs. Plus the fact that they do get big but they don't destroy your yard by digging like sulcatas and aren't escape artists like Russians.

    I have a sulcate and so far I have been lucky that George hasn't burrowed giant caverns in the back yard.

    I live in Midwest USA and my interest started when I was reading about these guys and the fact that they are unchanged from over 200 million years of evo...I like the way they are considered the dogs of the tort family. Mine does come to me when I walk into the room. Also the fact that they are thought of as the fourth largest tort...
