Hi Oxalis, sorry for the delay in replying. Was the pellets used at the store I bought Kiram from so decided to go with the same as other stores had such Tortoises in hay and some kind of corn pellets as well. Tried hay recently but felt she wasn't too happy with it and for some reason, felt her skin getting white patches, not sure if due to the hay. Just removed the hay on Sunday and cleaned up the messy pellets, replacing with some new ones and feel her skin colour returning back to normal. Also added some vitamins to her diet. Will monitor her otherwise have picked up a lotion already but hope she recovers naturally.
@Kiram No worries; no delay at all. Interesting skin issues; tortoises can use lotion? Maybe try some extra soaks?
No, I have a Russian tortoise but years ago I had used a similar substrate and found it really dry. Nonetheless, it continues to amaze me how dry our houses are.
Your tort is very lovely, and it looks like she has a nice smooth shell.
