Help growing weeds/plants indoors

I have an old computer desk I'm converting into a little grow table. Already have the seeds, dandelion, plantain, red an white clover, Pansy's,evening primrose an chickweed. Already have a few lamps an 26w 6500k cfl's and am heading to hydroponic store tomorrow to grab some t5 high output grow lights. Just wondering if anyone's has any tips? I already have the little seed trays but is it better to sow them in a tray rather then in the individual cells? I was thinking for the dandelions an things with long taproots I was going to do in single cells an then transplant to 4" pots when they get big enough or I don't no if it's better just to have them all in one tray for them to graze. Any tips an help appreciated! Thanks!

I'd like to start growing my own weeds. Don't know anything about growing seeds, I kill almost everything (or my tort's do ) Good luck!

My main tip for your setup is to make sure your lights are a few inches from the top of the medium. Indoor lighting will never be enough light intensity for plants compared to the sun, so keep the lights close. As for sowing them in flats or individually, I usually do a bit of both. The grazing seed types can be in flats. However, growing in flats then separating into individual pots is really tedious, in my opinion.

I grow my own collard greens,turnips,etc. A lot of you guys can grow all year long even in Vermont you just have to know what to grow when.
Also, I grow Black FLA mulberry, hibiscus, and opuntia cactus(prickly pear).

I grew a few things this winter. I kept my salad containers and used them a mini greenhouses. They worked great! Here are a few pictures:

I kept the trays and covers fir just about any food I bought, eg, cake, roast chicken, salads.


Oh, and I used the same mix that I use for substrate: one part each topsoil and peat moss. I have a fish tank, so I used the tank water for the plants. It provides great nutrition and extra oxygen for the roots.

Thanks! This was my first winter with the tortoises, so this coming winter will be a bit easier now that I know what to do.

Update- got my grow lights an everything started!!its going good, 2 hibiscus clones going an a ton of weeds

Looking good! Once they all start sprouting, you won't need to dome it so much. I normally don't put lids or domes on mine.. I just keep the soil moist until they pop. My tip to you is: I notice you have tons of variety. Usually seed packets can contain 10 seeds but sometimes there can be 1000. Try to pace yourself and plant a few at a time. It seems easy now when they're in small pots, but in a month, you can have a hundred plants that require way more space (and light) than you can give them. Looking forward to your progress!

Ok thanks!i was actually just wondering when to take the dome off Because they have sprouted! An thanks for advice I could see what you mean about it getting out of hand, a few seeds can turn into some big plants!

I'd suggest even getting a regular cfl bulb to grow they are dirt cheap just look at package an make sure it's 6500k colour spectrum. Or you can get cheap t8 flurocent lighting for cheap from hardware store which is great for growing. But window should work as long as it's south facing an bright! Here's a update

I'm so jealous! When you harvest these, are you just clipping the leaves and leaving the stems or clipping by the dirt on the stems?

@josh shultis I grew mine big and my Torts only nibbled here and there. Then one day I put them in the container with the SPROUTS and they went bananas! apparently they taste better! And my one little guy kept seeking out SEEDS as well! Which are also good for them!
