Hi everyone,

I Need some help identifying a tortoise that I have recently adopted so that I can care for him properly. He has been living in the garden (which he was doing previously) but I have brought him in indoors when it is raining heavily.

Please see a picture of Wallace below.

Thanks in advance :)

must be in the UK, huh? That looks to be a full grown Hermanni, but let's wait for others to confirm. . . it could also be a Greek (I'm on the fence).

Welcome to the Forum! Does Wallace have a shelter he can retreat into during rainy weather? If it doesn't get too awful cold, maybe you can just leave him out there. Let's send a shout-out to @JoesMum. She used to have a 40 year old tortoise living in her garden in the UK.

I just asked Google where is and it looks like that might be your address????? Not a good idea to show your address online. If you want, we can just change it to "UK"

Hello, and a very warm welcome to Tortoise Forum to you and Wallace. :)
Does he have little spurs on his thighs ?
Can ve see a photo of his plastron (underside).
I am leaning toward Greek, but it may be a Hermann's.

Hi Yvonne! Thank you, I didn't realise that it was public information! I will change that ASAP.

Hello, yes it is in Essex, England.

Thank you for the warm welcome. Wallace has a shelter with some straw and an old jumper inside that he can cosy up in. I came home from work and it was raining really heavy and I just thought it was too cold to leave him outside. Oh let's hope she has some good tips :)

Thanks again.

It's certainly a girl and I still can't see if there are spurs on the upper rear legs on the inside ?

I don't think she'll get an identity, gender crisis. ;)
I think it's a Greek, but can't see the spurs, so may be a Hermann's

Welcome to the forum!

I have a feeling your tort is a female and a Greek tort, though I'm guessing. (By the way, I have a Greek tort I'm madly in love with).
