Our Jamaican community grows them.
It's called Soursop.
I'm not fond of it. But the tortoises aren't as particular.
I absolutely hate soursop and agree that it is obscene looking. I must try my tortoises with it next time someone brings some for us.
They love papaya (what we call pawpaw) and it grows in our garden, likewise raspberries, banana and guava.

Love this thread !
My little rf torts are jumping around impatiently, all those are either dead cheap at the fresh market or simply up for grab on my weekend strolls :)

Are the Chinese Wampi (or Wampee) ok ? The Latin name is Clausena Lansium, or is that Swahili ? I suck at both.
They look like that :

The forests and fields around my house are packed with them !

Yummy !!!

Selfish-Me : keep a bunch of those for your torts, and make jams for yourself. Please someone tell me rf torts don't eat jam...
My wife has become extremely protective of the mangoes and papayas I bring home. "Stay away, those are for Dumb & Dumber, you can have a glass of tap water instead..." she says, tcheee...

Cheers,

This is typical of what I feed my Redfoot as far as fruit goes:
Soursop, Sapadillo and mango, almond apples, Suriname cherries, guava etc.
All available for free, or next to nothing here this time of year. But not available at all anywhere but the tropics.
It's a good example about why what works for you may be of no help for someone else in a different location.
Hi, can they eat the seeds of the soursop?

Hi, can they eat the seeds of the soursop?
I've never removed them.
Although I'm not 100% sure that they are actually edible. There have been no issues.
I suppose i might remove them if i were feeding a smaller RF and i was concerned about any seeds having issues getting through the GI tract.
Soursop isn't one of their favorites though. And I don't use it regularly in my feeding rotation.
