Hello All,
I came across this forum yesterday...and I got very useful info from this forum as a beginner.

Meet my new pet :tort:...A Star Tortoise...just received him on May 23. Still looking for an indian short name for him.

It's 4 month old baby.
SCL is 5.5 cm and weight is 37 gms.

I would be needing help from experts to grow this baby smoothly.

Regards,
Chintan

Welcome to the forum, congrats he looks very good.
Im not an expert on stars but you can go threw and read Our Star Threads, read read read.
As for growing a healthy smooth baby, humidity and a varied diet are required.
You would want to spray the whole enclosure with water to create humidity, and
feed Cactus (Prickly Pear) grasses, Mazuri, dark leafy greens from the store, Hibisicus..

Hi Chintan:

Welcome to the Tortoise Forum!!

Are you in India?

I think the names of things in the sky make nice star tortoise names...Constellation, Orion, Andromeda, Aquarius, Aries, etc.

Your tortoise is very beautiful.

Yes....I am from India.

Till yesterday I was socking her for 5 min under running tap water but CLMoss has suggested to soak her in a container with shallow water for 20 min.

She only eats okra and cucumber as I don't have access to wide variety of grasses or flowers in my city. So only options seems is the veggies. Hopefully Indian members can help me getting local Indian varieties.

I don't have any enclosure till now. Weather here in Surat,India is humid as it is just 15km from Arabian sea. It's hot summer going on here and the temperature remains 29 to 38 degrees celcius and humidity is between 60 to 90%. So as of now she just roam around my living room and hides under my furnitures.

Welcome to the Forum!

If you want an Indian name but want to use the Star Chart names... might I suggest you look up the Traditional Celestial Indian Names before there was Unified Star Map.
