Strange white material on box turtles back stump

Are you referring to the leg stump? The part of the leg closest to the body? Someone thought I was referring to the end of the leg where there is healed bone. How do you see the skin is healing? I truly want to know so I'm better equipped to treat in the future.

Strange white material on box turtles back stump

Is this fungus? This is an Eastern Box Turtle who has had its leg chewed off by a predator. This white sponginess developed this week. She is going to the vet on Monday, but I want to do everything I can to diagnose before then.

Strange white material on box turtles back stump

I meant to an explain what's going on with her cloaca. It was damaged in the same attack that took her legs. We've been seeing a vet regularly to monitor the damage and determine whether or not she'll need surgery.

Strange white material on box turtles back stump

I have an Eastern Box Turtle who has lost both hind legs to a predator. She's done very well with our care. However, just today we found this white tissue material on her back stump. I can't fully tell if this tissue is skin or an outer growth that has developed on her leg. I'm attaching a photo...

Junie Moon - Our two-legged Eastern Box Turtle

I just wanted to introduce Junie Moon to The forum. She is an Eastern Box Turtle and was found by a homeless person who subsequently surrendered her to our sanctuary. Her back legs and tail were chewed off by a predator. The predator must have lost interest because everything else about her is...

Eastern box turtle strata and heat

She was seen by a vet a few weeks ago. The vet was reptile savvy and ran a stool analysis. All was well there. We know it's a she because she laid an egg while I was out of town. The egg deflated after a day. Non-viable to say the least. Here's what I wrote to my wife after the vet visit...

Eastern box turtle strata and heat

Love your post. I live on an old dairy farm and one of our outbuildings has a small room with a cross board for a seat. The board has a nice oval hole in it... I'll take your advice about the foods. I actually pick up the girl (she's a girl—I assume) and out.her in the water. She doesn't appear...

Eastern box turtle strata and heat

Hi Yvonne. Actually it's not corn cob, but husks that have dried out after the corn is harvested. There are few cops in there, but mostly the long dry husks. They are not absorbing moisture and they were bone dry when I took them from a field. The guy is enjoyed burrowing in it although it's...

Eastern box turtle strata and heat

Hi Jeff. Yes, it's living indoors. Sorry for the delay in responding. I haven't done the leave thing yet, which I intend to, but the little guy munched on quite a bit of lettuce today and mealworms. I've been soaking them every morning and letting him drink while he's in there. I don't know if...

Eastern box turtle strata and heat

An Eastern Box turtle has come into my possession. The person who had it before was very spartan in what they were providing in the way of food, water, and environment. So, I'm trying to make headway on improving it's life. I will have more questions I'm certain. But right now I'd like to know...
